About training

This 6 day Ashtanga Yoga Training in Uluwatu is designed for practitioners ready to deepen their relationship with the practice in a methodical and intelligent way.

Rooted in traditional Ashtanga Vinyasa, the training offers a clear, structured approach to the Primary Series, emphasizing breath, vinyasa count, alignment, and disciplined repetition. Rather than rushing through postures, you are guided to understand how and why the practice works, allowing progress to become sustainable and embodied.

Training takes place in an ocean view shala near Bingin Beach. Through guided Primary Series practice, asana labs, functional anatomy, philosophy, and teaching methodology, students refine their foundations and develop clarity and confidence in their practice. This training is suited for dedicated practitioners and aspiring teachers who value depth, structure, and long term development over quick results. Students leave with a clearer practice, stronger self discipline, and the tools to continue growing independently.

Note: To become a fully certified teacher (RYT-200), you can combine this onsite retreat with our 150-hour online training.

Student stories

Discover heartfelt stories from our students around the world who have transformed their lives and careers through Ulu Yoga.

I first heard about ULU Yoga through a friend who did the training a year ago, and ever since, I couldn’t stop thinking about it. Building myself up to finally come here turned out to be one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. The connections I’ve formed—with the circle of girls, the instructors, and the wider team, including Tanya and Eddie—have been nothing short of beautiful and unforgettable. The course was incredibly well-structured, offering a wide variety of activities such as beach meditations, social dinners, and yoga sessions both indoors and outdoors.

I’m doing the yoga teacher training with Ulu Yoga. I think it’s such a beautiful experience. I’ve met a lot of beautiful people. I’ve had a wonderful time. The teachers are amazing. They go with you through the whole experience, emotionally and physically. It’s really an experience that’s really worth it. And the yoga that I love the most is vinyasa and aerial.

Amalia

I’ve been practicing yoga for six months. So probably it was a little bit crazy to join the ULU Yoga teaching program, but I wanted to do it for myself—for my personal development and growth. And I’m so grateful that I made this decision. I’ve met so many gorgeous people here—not only the teachers but also the students. All the people were so supportive and inspiring. If you still have doubts about whether this is for you, don’t overthink it. Just book the course at ULU Yoga. For sure, you will be happy, and it will help you in your future life. I’m really grateful, and I want to thank all the people who create this atmosphere, build this school, and bring so much happiness to our lives.

I have absolutely loved doing my 200 hour yoga teacher training here at Ulu Yoga Bali. It has been the most incredible experience. The teachers are unbelievable. It’s such an incredible team and each of them offer you something completely different. There’s been such a wonderful array of different classes. We’ve done Hatha, vinyasa, ashtanga. We’ve also done aerial and acro. And yeah, just the sense of joy and excitement that each different area has brought us has been incredible. And just the people that come to ULU Yoga, like, a lot of us, love the beach, a lot of us have similar interests, and it’s been the most beautiful, aligned community of people. And I’m just so grateful to have chosen ULU Yoga. It has been the most incredible experience and I can’t thank the team and all the people enough.

I’m here on a YTT 200, finding myself, finding happiness, finding peace, finding connection with my mind, with my body, with my soul. My yoga journey has been long and interesting. It has been on and off. And I’m very grateful to finally be in this place, being surrounded by like minded people, inspiring, motivating people who show what yoga truly is, who are teaching from the heart, not from the ego, but teaching from the soul. Sharing their experiences with us, sharing their knowledge with us. We are all coming from completely different paths of life, walks of life.

What you will learn

01
Ashtanga Yoga

Ashtanga Yoga cultivates mental fortitude and personal empowerment, teaching us to meet challenges with grace and equanimity.

02

Uncover the deeper meaning of yoga through ancient texts and timeless wisdom. Explore Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras, the 8 Limbs of Yoga, chakras, gunas, doshas, ayurveda, and Hinduism. Through reflective journaling, group discussions, and embodied practice, you’ll learn to apply this knowledge on and off the mat to achieve personal growth and spiritual insight.

03
Asana labs

Deepen your understanding of breath awareness, bandha activation, physiological benefits, and effective hands-on adjustments using props and verbal cues.

Explore the muscles, bones, fascia, joints, and nervous system to understand the science behind safe, effective yoga. Learn how to guide students with injuries or special needs, improve alignment, and offer therapeutic adjustments based on body mechanics. These classes are part lecture and part interactive practical application.

BS Kinesiology, Ashtanga, Vinyasa Yoga

Arbely has been teaching yoga for over 17 years and holds more than 1,000 hours of formal yoga education. She completed her first 500hr YTT in Kerala, India in 2009 at just 19 years old and has since returned to India several times to study at the source, including training in Ashtanga under Sharath R. Jois. Over the years, she has taught internationally across five continents and led numerous yoga teacher trainings, inspiring students worldwide with her depth of knowledge and compassionate guidance. Yoga has always been Arbely’s tool to feel grounded amidst life’s chaos, a practice of healing and accessibility that she believes can benefit everyone. She looks forward to helping students find a deeper connection within, so they can awaken to their true essence. Originally born in Mexico and later immigrating to Montréal, Canada as a child, Arbely first discovered movement through competitive rhythmic gymnastics. After struggling with depression and anorexia in her adolescence, she left the sport behind in search of something both physical and transformative: ultimately finding her true path in yoga at the age of 18.
